This print marks the beginning of my linoprint journey. I had experimented with linoleum during my art-studies, but never before created something with as much detail and layering as this work.
It is a five-color reduction print.
In this print, the Waalkade comes to life as seen from the Waal River. You can follow the flowing water along the quay. The trees stand in front of the historic houses. In the background, the iconic St. Stevens Church rises above the rooftops, anchoring the scene in Nijmegen’s rich history. The layered details and subtle textures capture both the charm of the riverside and the rhythm of daily life along the water, making the Waalkade the true character of this print.

Printing Method
Printed using the reduction printing method, each color layer is hand-printed and the linoleum block is carved further after every stage. As the image comes to life, the block gradually disappears, making each print unique and ensuring that no additional prints can ever be made.
Each design is transferred by hand onto the linoleum block and carved using Pfeil gouges. Every print is hand-printed using a glass baren and sometimes a press. Due to the handmade process, colors and details may vary slightly, and the print and the paper may have imperfections, including slight color misalignment in multicolor prints. They are part of the character of the work.
Each print is signed and numbered on the front.
The image shown is for reference. Colors may be different as on screen. As prints are individually numbered, it is not possible to select a specific number in advance.
