For many people in and around Nijmegen, and for everyone who has ever walked the Four Days Marches, the gladiolus is much more than a flower. It has become the symbol of perseverance, celebration and the unforgettable final stretch along Via Gladiola. In this print, I wanted to capture its elegance in a simple, graphic composition.
This print stands beautifully on its own, but also makes a perfect companion to my Via Berg en Dal bereik je de Via Gladiola linoprint. Whether it reminds you of the Four Days Marches, a personal achievement, or simply your love of flowers, I hope it celebrates the hope and perseverance that carry us through every journey.

Paper
Handmade Via Gladiola paper: The handmade Via Gladiola paper is made from recycled paper pulp (Simili Japon) from my studio combined with materials collected along the final stretch of the Nijmegen Four Days Marches. Leaves, freshly cut grass, flower petals, beer coasters and business cards from a local café along the route. It’s all incorporated into the paper. Every sheet is unique, carrying its own traces of the journey to Via Gladiola.
Handmade paper naturally dyed with avocado skins and pits: The avocado skins and pits were gently simmered for several hours, creating a natural pink dye that colours the Simili Japon paper pulp. The result is a soft, warm pink paper, with subtle variations that make each sheet unique.
The handmade papers are made using natural ingredients. As these materials continue to age naturally, subtle changes may occur over time. This is a natural characteristic of the paper and part of the charm of each unique print.

Printing Method
Printed using the traditional linocut printing technique. Each print is hand-printed using a Woodzilla handpress, making every piece one of a kind.
Because of the handmade process, colours, textures and details may vary slightly, and the print and paper may have imperfections, which are part of the charm of the work.
Each print is numbered and signed on the front.
If you choose one of the handmade paper editions, you can select your exact print. Every sheet has its own character, so be sure to choose the one that speaks to you. Colours may differ slightly from what you see on screen.
